Dr. John Hsiang is a highly experienced gastroenterologist based at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore, with over 15 years of medical practice. His clinical expertise lies in managing gastrointestinal diseases, fatty liver disease, and viral hepatitis. Before entering private practice, Dr. Hsiang served as a consultant gastroenterologist within the SingHealth cluster hospitals.

A graduate of Otago Medical School in New Zealand, Dr. Hsiang completed his specialist training and earned fellowship status with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He further advanced his career with post-specialist training and hepatology research at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he obtained a doctorate degree focused on chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis B, type 2 diabetes, and the role of statins.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hsiang is actively involved in medical education as a lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and Duke-NUS Medical School. He has also held adjunct associate professor roles at both institutions, mentoring future healthcare professionals.

Dr. Hsiang is an accomplished researcher with over 25 peer-reviewed publications covering topics such as hepatitis B and C, obesity-related liver disease, gut microbiome, colonoscopy outcomes, helicobacter infection, liver cirrhosis, and alcoholic liver disease. He has received research grants in gastroenterology and hepatology and serves as a reviewer for leading international journals like the American Journal of Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Additionally, he is a junior editorial board member for Hepatoma Research and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease.

Recognized for his contributions to medicine, Dr. Hsiang is a recipient of the SingHealth Long Service Award and continues to combine clinical excellence with academic leadership to advance the field of gastroenterology.
